Jefferson Presbyterian is a small, yet diverse community church located at 4450 Jefferson Hwy, in the shadow of the Huey P. Long Bridge.
Although we lost our sanctuary in early 2008 due to a tragic fire, we continue to hold weekly worship services and other activities in our Fellowship Hall. Despite our loss, our faith is stronger than ever and we are dedicated to rebuilding our sanctuary so that we may continue to serve God and our community.
We are located a few blocks from the Huey P. Long bridge, right next to Jefferson Elementary School.

Minister's Corner

If you want to know where the roots of my Christian faith are, you don't have to look too far from my family. As I write this, I am in Louisville, KY visiting my Dad and my sister to help make some family decision about where my father should live now that he is 80 years old and having more difficulty taking care of himself adequately. On the wall of my Dad's den, in the home I grew up in, is a framed poem called, “It's Friday...but Sunday's Coming.” Since April is the month for Holy Week and Easter, I wanted to share it with you.

It's Friday: Jesus was nailed dead on a cross...but Sunday's coming!

It's Friday: Mary's crying her eyes out because her baby Jesus is dead...but Sunday's coming!

It's Friday: The disciples are running in every direction like sheep without a shepherd...but

Sunday's coming!

It's Friday: Pilate's strutting around washing his hands because he thinks he has all the power and the victory...but Sunday's coming!

It's Friday: People are saying, “As things have been, so shall they always be. You can't change anything in this world”...but Sunday's coming!

It's Friday: Satan's dancing a little jig saying, “I control the whole world”...but Sunday's coming!

It's Friday: The Temple veil ripped from top to bottom - the earth shook - the rocks split and tombs opened; the centurion screamed in fear, “Truly he was the Son of God!”...Sunday's coming!

It's Sunday: The angel, like dazzling lightning, rolled the stone away, exclaiming, “He is not here! He is risen!”

It's Sunday! It's Sunday! It's Sunday!

As we come to Easter this year, let us remember that because of God's work in Christ through the power of his resurrection, every morning is Easter morning from now on.
