Jefferson Presbyterian is a small, yet diverse community church located at 4450 Jefferson Hwy, in the shadow of the Huey P. Long Bridge.
Although we lost our sanctuary in early 2008 due to a tragic fire, we continue to hold weekly worship services and other activities in our Fellowship Hall. Despite our loss, our faith is stronger than ever and we are dedicated to rebuilding our sanctuary so that we may continue to serve God and our community.
We are located a few blocks from the Huey P. Long bridge, right next to Jefferson Elementary School.

Breaking New Ground

After the Worship Service on Sunday, Nov. 20th, 2011 we held a short ceremony to celebrate the groundbreaking for our new sanctuary. Jefferson Presbyterian Groundbreaking CakeThankfully the weather was warm and sunny and we were all able to go outside and take a group portrait in roughly the same spot as the original 1925 groundbreaking photo that hangs in the Fellowship Hall. Thanks to Elizabeth and Kurt for donating the huge (and delicious) cake. Construction should begin within the next few weeks and, barring any weather delays, we are hoping to be in the new sanctuary by next May or June.

News & Announcements

Food Bank Preparation & Distribution

Preparation for the next Food Bank will be at 9:00AM on Thursday, February 2nd. Please come to the Fellowship Hall if you wish to assist in preparing grocery bags for distribution. The Food Bank will be open for distribution from 9:00AM - 11:00AM on Saturday, February 4th.

Annual Congregational Meeting

Our annual Congregational Meeting which will include the Election of Elders/Trustees will take place immediately following the Worship Service on Sunday, January 22nd. Installation and recognition of Elders/Trustees will take place on Sunday, January 29th during the Worship Service.

New Healing Prayer Service

On the 2nd Sunday of each month, anyone wishing to receive healing prayers from Rev. Jan can meet in the parlor immediate following the Worship Service.

New Worship Service Start Time in 2012

Beginning on Sunday, January 1st, 2012our Sunday Worship Service will be returning to its original start time of 10:30AM and Sunday School will be moving to 9:30AM. Please make a note of the new times!

Homeless Ministries

The Jefferson Presbyterian Foodbank is requesting donations of Men's clothing, particularly pants and jeans in sizes 30-34. Please contact Jerri Hull or the Church Office with donations.
